What’s the real difference between a €3,000 booth and an €8,000 booth?
What’s the real difference between a €3.000 booth and an €8.000 soundproof booth? What features should you demand? What red flags should you avoid?
If you are looking to invest in soundproof booths or office pods, this series of blog posts was written for you.
Over four posts, we’ll explain different aspects of booths in simple to understand language, covering all the key aspects from soundproofing and ventilation to comfort and durability.
We’ll show you how booths are built, how different manufacturers make different engineering decisions. We’ll even tell you how some manufacturers cut corners to save money. And then we’ll show you how to spot it before you part with your own money.
At Persy Booths, we make booths. It’s in our name. But we’re not telling you which booths to buy. We’re just giving you the information so you can make that call for yourself.

In this short article, we’ll cover
• Why ventilation matters
• How it works
• What to look for
The truth about ventilation
While having a soundproof booth is great, it’s not going to get used much if it gets stuffy inside and you won’t get the most from your investment. Note that temperature and CO₂ levels affect concentration too, so good ventilation is essential. If the air within the booth is replaced every 30–40 seconds, you should have a place that’s equally good for quick calls or longer work sessions.

Fan power
Virtually every soundproof phone booth in the market uses fans to power their ventilation, but there’s a huge variance on how they do it.
The best booths will use two or three fans; the cheapest may try to get away with just the one. Higher-quality booths have more fans for two reasons: they want to ensure a healthy supply of fresh air to keep it comfortable, and the soundproofing measures mentioned earlier restrict the flow of air and thus need more fan power to keep the air flowing through the system.

What to look for
• More than one fan per square meter
• Air replaced every 30–40 seconds
What to avoid
• One fan (or less) per square meter
• Air replaced every 60+ seconds
A rule of thumb...
If the air isn’t being replaced every 30–40 seconds, the booth will feel uncomfortable faster than you expect.

• Blog 1: Soundproofing
• Blog 3: Comfort
• Blog 4: Durability
• Comfort has a direct impact on how often people actually use a booth.
• Small design flaws become major frustrations over thousands of hours of use.
• Good lighting, ergonomics, layout, and accessibility matter more than most buyers realise.
• Front-facing lighting and bright interiors improve both video calls and concentration.
• Comfortable seating and spacious work surfaces support longer, more productive sessions.
• The easiest way to evaluate comfort is to spend time working inside the booth yourself.
In summary
Comfort is one of those things that rarely shows up in a specification sheet, but it has a huge impact on how successful your investment turns out to be. If people don’t feel comfortable using a booth, they’ll naturally start avoiding it, regardless of how good the soundproofing or ventilation may be.
